The
North Central Republican Club holds monthly meetings
- on the third Tuesday of each month. In addition
to club business, typical club meetings include one
or more speakers on topics of interest to the community
and to the Republican party.

DECEMBER
MEETING
Please join
us for our next meeting on Tuesday, December 16 at 7:30
p.m. at the Pickersgill Retirement Community. Our speaker
for this month will be Circuit Court Judge Nominee, Brenda
Clark. Brenda will introduce herself, tell us what led her
to seek the judgeship, and will let us know how we can
help her campaign.
Update:
In addition to Circuit
Court Judge Nominee, Brenda Clark, we will also be joined
by the four sitting Circuit Court Judges. They are Dana
Levitz, Vicki Ballou-Watts, Susan Souder, and John
Turnbull.
You will also want to be present for this meeting because
it will be our Christmas Party. The meeting will begin at
7:30 p.m. Come at 7 and stay afterwards for the
festivities.
As always, we invite folks to come early and stay
afterwards to socialize and network with the members.

NOVEMBER
MEETING
Please join us for our next meeting on Tuesday, November
18th. Councilman T. Bryan McIntire of the Baltimore
County Council will be our guest speaker. Please come prepared to be part of a great discussion and
bring along a friend.

OCTOBER
MEETING
Vera Faith Lord, the new Development
Director for Maryland Right to Life was our guest
speaker. Vera discussed abortion's effect on women
and updated us on upcoming abortion legislation.

SEPTEMBER MEETING
Please join us for our up-coming
meeting on Tuesday, September 16th. The
Clerk of Courts for Anne Arundel County, Bob Duckworth
(campaign page) will be our featured speaker.
Mr. Duckworth will tell us of his campaign for the 3rd
Congressional District in which he hopes to unseat Ben
Cardin.
We also ask your attendance so that you can sign a
petition to bring bill 60-03 to referendum. The bill,
which was signed on July 7 by the Baltimore County Council
is titled Back River Neck District Allocation. It calls
for changes in zoning stipulations to rural areas in the
eastern part of Baltimore County.

AUGUST MEETING
7th District
Delegate Rick Impalaria will discuss solutions
for reducing crime in Eastern Baltimore County. Tim
Caldwell, President of the C.O.P.s. Foundation will
also tell us ways in which law enforcement works with
communities to create a safe environment to live and work.

JULY
MEETING
Please join us for our
upcoming meeting on Tuesday, July 15. Former county
council person, Berchie Manley will lead us in a
discussion on take home police cars. Berchie will tell us
about the program's results in other counties including
Montgomery and Howard while discussing the feasibility in
Balitimore County. Afterwards, we will hear from
Republican U.S. Senatorial Candidate, Corrogan Vaughn.
Corrogan will tell us all about why he is running and how
we can push him to victory.

JUNE
MEETING
Please join us for a very
timely discussion pertaining to the State School Board.
On June 25th the school board will vote on whether or not
to alter it's Safety Code under the COMAR
regulations to include the words 'sexual
orientation'. Baltimore County Public School Parent,
Laura Suffecool will provide background and up to
date information on this issue and will tell the possible
imlications of this change for parents and students.

The co-Chairs of
NoCasiNo joined us for a discussion of the merits
and pitfalls of legalized gambling.

DECEMBER MEETING
Dee Hodges,
President of the
Maryland Taxpayers Association was the speaker
at the December meeting.
Dee is a
mortgage banker and political activist. She has worked
as a banker in California, Virginia, and Maryland.
A graduate of the University of Illinois in History and
Political Science, Hodges earned a Masters of Science in
Finance from the University of Baltimore. She served for a
year in Vietnam with the American National Red Cross.

Married for 29 years to Mack Hodges, an engineer and
consultant to the U.S. Marine Corps, she and her husband
live in Towson. She has two children - one a biology major
at the University of Virginia and the other a physics
major at Texas A&M University - and a married stepson at
CNN in Atlanta.
Dee was elected as Vice President for Membership of the
MTA in 2000
and re-elected in 2001. In September 2002, she was
elected President of Maryland Taxpayers Association.

Our topic was education and
featured Heritage Foundation policy analyst,
Krista Kaefer. Krista concentrated her discussion
on state and local policies and in doing so told us
about class reduction and school choice initiatives.

Immigration Control.
Speaker: Robert Goldsborough
Robert
Goldsborough is the President of Americans for Immigration
Control (AIC). Their website is www.immigrationcontrol.com.
AIC was founded in 1983 by a group of American citizens
concerned about the future of our country. From its
modest beginnings, AIC grew in less than ten years to
become the nation's largest grassroots lobby for immigration
reform. Today, with more than 250,000 members and supporters,
AIC is leading the fight to bring common sense back
to American immigration policy

National Leadership Network of Conservative African-Americans
(Project 21)
Project 21 is an initiative of The National Center for
Public Policy Research to promote the views of African-Americans
whose entrepreneurial spirit, dedication to family and
commitment to individual responsibility has not traditionally
been echoed by the nation's civil rights establishment.
Project 21 participants have been interviewed by hundreds
of newspapers, talk radio shows and television programs,
including CNN & Company, CNN Morning News, Black Entertainment
Television, America's Black Forum, The McLaughlin Group,
C-SPAN's Morning Journal, Larry King, Rush Limbaugh
and The Michael Reagan Show, as well as in newspapers
such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal,

Speakers: Featured Republican Leaders for this
meeting were Pat
McDonough, Trey Kerns and Harry Shriver.
Pat McDonough has a show that comes on Saturday
evenings. Trey Kerns has a show that comes on
Friday evenings. Finally, Harry Shriver is a
former broadcaster and and General Manager of WCBM.
He was one of the original panelists on the daily noontime
discussion program, 'Conference Call' which aired for
35 years, 13 on WCBM. Harry is also know for his play-by-play
address of the Colts and Orioles.

Coalition Against Crime" and active leader in Maryland's

Bishop
Bart Pierce is the senior pastor at the Rock City Church,
located in Towson, Maryland. The Rock City Church is both
non-denominational and multi-cultural, including members
that have come from various religious backgrounds. Rock
City church has a unique calling to reach out to the lost
and hurting. Pastor Pierce has personally pioneered programs
to help such people including: Adopt-A-Block, Can Can
Make a Difference, Nehemiah House and The Hiding Place.
Pastor Pierce is the Co-Founder of Global Compassion Network,
made up of organizations from around the world including
Operation Blessing, Somebody Cares Int'l, World Relief,
Operation Compassion and many others. Bishop Pierce also
provides Apostolic oversight to churches in the Ukraine,
Ghana and Madagascar, as well as domestically here in
the States. He has appeared on CBN and has spoken in many
churches and conferences throughout the world and U.S.. |

Paavola - Attorney & Director - Christian Legal Society
Matt Paavola is an attorney for Paavola & Paavola in Essex,
MD. Mr. Paavola has been practicing in Essex since 1982.
Mr. Paavola is also a co-host of the 'The Lawyers Show'
(WJFK-1300am) radio show that airs Saturday mornings at
9:00. The main topic of this radio talk show is 1st Amendment
including Church vs. State issues.With over twenty years
of experience, Matt has developed the knowledge in many
areas of law including counseling, negotiations and litigation.
He has tried cases at all levels of the court system,
is active with the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association,
and serves on the Legislative Committee to represent injured
workers. Matt is the membership director of the Christian
Legal Society and Co-Director of Legal Aid Ministry of
Baltimore. |

Byran McIntire
Councilman
Bryan McIntire was elected to the Baltimore County Council
in 1994 to represent the 3rd district and was re-elected
in 1998. Councilman McIntire has 43 years of private law
experience, served as the States Attorney for Carroll
County between 1962-1970 and was former attorney to Carroll
County Board of Elections. In representation of the 3rd
District, Councilman McIntire has the following legislative
accomplishments: created the Rippling Run farm Historic
District; co-sponsored Owner Livability Code requiring
owner occupied residences to maintain acceptable exterior
appearance; and implemented the Reistertown revitalization

Eldredge - Director of Camp
Puh'tok
Mr.
Eldredge is the son of Brigadier Douglas Eldredge and
is currently the Director of Camp Puh'tok. Mr Eldredge
is a graduate of Springfield College and has performed
graduate work at NYU. He also has 10 years experience
as a wilderness guide in Maine and Canada |

Roy Tarbutton and Budd Given - The Maryland State
Rifle and Pistol Association (www.msrpa.org)
The Maryland State Rifle and Pistol Association (MSRPA)
is the flagship Gun Rights organization in and for the
State of Maryland. The Association offers both individual
and club memberships. As such, it provides an "umbrella"
organization of Gun Clubs in Maryland. It is run by an
elected Board of Directors and elected Officers. Support
of the shooting disciplines and legislative activities
is primarily through a systems of committees. All participants
are volunteers. |

January 15, 2002:
The guest speaker at the January meeting was James Parmalee
from NorthernVirginiaGOP.com
political action committee. James talked about how his
organization was able to successfully mobilize Virginia
voters to support Republican candidates in recent elections.
James Parmelee is the President of Parmelee Associates,
a Political Communications firm based in the DC area.
Mr. Parmelee also serves as President of Republicans United
for Tax Reform and Chairman of the NorthernVirginiaGOP.com
PAC organization. A television producer, Mr. Parmelee
hosts a conservative public affairs show on 21 cable stations
in the DC area and across Virginia. Mr. Parmelee served
on a number of corporate and governmental boards including
appointments by the previous RNC Chairman Jim Gilmore,
Senator George Allen and Nat'l Republican Congressional
Committee Chairman Tom Davis. Mr. Parmelee was formerly
the Congressional Affairs Director for a Republican Congress
and Deputy Communications Director for President George
W. Bush's Virginia Campaign. In 1988, James Parmelee was
elected to the State Central Committee for the Republican
Party of Virginia. What an impressive citizen and activist!!

The guest speaker at the December meeting was William
Turenne - from the Citizens for a Sound Economy (CSE).
The discussion included details of the ECONOMIC STIMULUS
PACKAGE. What factors are important to stimulate the economy?
How the CSE plan differs from President Bush's proposal?
What can we do as citizens to help stimulate the economy?
Bill Turenne is a Tax & Policy Analyst for Citizens for
a Sound Economy (CSE), a grassroots organization located
in Washington, D.C. CSE is a non-partisan, grassroots
organization that fight for and represent lower taxes
and less government. They believe in freedom from big
government bureaucracy. On policy issues ranging from
cutting taxes to government-run health care, CSE has been
on the front lines, educating, activating and winning.
Through the hard work and efforts of over 250,000 members,
CSE has become one of the nation's premier citizens' advocacy
networks. CSE's affiliate, CSE Foundation, conducts research
and provides analyses for policy makers in government,
as well as for journalists, businesses, taxpayers and
citizens. |

November
18, 2001:
Guest
speakers at the November meeting included Senator Andy
Harris and a group of Maryland Firefighters who supported
activities at "ground zero" in NYC.
Senator Harris was elected to the State Senate in 1998
and represents District 9A in Baltimore County. Senator
Harris is also a Doctor at Johns Hopkins Hospital specializing
in Anesthesiology.
The
firefighters from Maryland that helped out at the Ground
Zero WTC site are from various counties including Baltimore,
Carroll and Harford counties. The firefighters talked
about their experiences in NYC which began on 9\11 and
continued for approximately two weeks. |
